The Springfield My Brother’s Keeper Chapter is a collective impact partnership between Springfield City Schools District and The Conscious Connect, Inc. Programmatic support is provided by The Ohio State University Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, AmeriCorps Vista, the Obama Foundation, and a host of local Black men that serve as mentors.

As spearheaded by the 2014 call of action from President Obama and the formation of the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Alliance, MBK-Springfield calls for innovative approaches to strengthen support systems and networks of opportunity for young people — to help close persistent opportunity gaps. Our mission is to foster brotherhood through intergenerational mentoring programs for youth — that promote identity development, servant-leadership, school and out-of-school enrichment, and career exploration.

This comprehensive initiative calls for cross-sector partnerships between schools, community organizations, interfaith networks, universities, public agencies, and private foundations. The aim of encouraging mentorship is to improve life outcomes for boys and girls with socioeconomic disadvantages.
